Elizabeth will wrap up her Spring Tour at Trinity St Paul’s United Church in Toronto on April 17 with her first big hometown show since her sold-out CD release at Glenn Gould Studio in March 2010. The two-time JUNO nominee spent much of the past 14 months touring in Japan, Europe, Canada, and the US, selling out legendary clubs from Tokyo to Detroit.

Denzal Sinclaire is a multiple Juno Award nominee, a recipient of the 2004 National Jazz Award for “Best Album”, a four-time consecutive recipient of Jazz Report Magazine Award for Male Jazz Vocalist, and 2007 Choc Jazzman Award (France). His admirers include Grammy Award-Winning artists, Diana Krall (“Denzal Sinclaire embodies the tradition of the great singers I love like Nat Cole, yet definitely has his own voice. He is one of my favorite singers…”), Bette Midler, Dianne Reeves, Branford Marsalis and Michel Bublé as well as growing legions of jazz fans in his native Canada and abroad. From his early days as a canny interpreter of Nat ‘King’ Cole’s mentholated crooning, he’s grown into one of the most distinctive and individualistic singers anywhere.

Elizabeth Shepherd’s hugely successful 2010 album Heavy Falls the Night was longlisted for the Polaris Music Prize and has been praised by pop and jazz critics at home and abroad. Here are some of the accolades for the record:

Elizabeth Shepherd has again been nominated for “Jazz Artist of the Year” by The Canadian Independent Music Awards, known as “The Indies”. Elizabeth won the award in 2007. The winners of The Indies are determined by a combination of fan and industry voting. In other words, you can help Elizabeth win by going here to vote.

The winners will be announced at the 11th annual Indies Awards gala on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 8:00pm at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel (Canadian Room) in Toronto, so make sure you cast your vote as soon as possible.

The Indies, the 11th annual Independent Music Awards, have nominated Elizabeth Shepherd for Jazz Artist of the Year. This Grammys-of-the-Indie scene, the closing party of Canadian Music Week, has quickly become a media flashpoint and major trolling ground for music fans and tastemakers searching for the next wave of music superstars.

This year, Arcade Fire and The Black Keys lead the pack of nominees with three nods each. The winners of The Indies are determined by a combination of fan and industry voting and will be announced at a big gala at The Royal York Hotel in Toronto on March 12, 2011. Janelle Monae, Shad, Hannah Georgas, and others will be performing. The Indies will be broadcast live to air on XM Satellite Radio.

Elizabeth Shepherd spent much of 2010 touring in Japan, Europe, Canada, and the US, selling out legendary clubs from Tokyo to Detroit. Having had a few months off, Elizabeth will soon be hitting the road again in support of of her hugely successful 2010 album Heavy Falls the Night. In March, Elizabeth and her band will set out on a month-long tour of Western Canada, kicking off at the beautiful Park Theatre in Winnipeg on March 18.
